My bunny bio
This is the first of many posts to come on this new blog.
I hope this blog to be a place where rabbit lovers can come to learn about the care of our furry companions and to share day-to-day stories about them.
I currently have one male, blue dutch house rabbit named JuJu. I adopted him from the House Rabbit Network along with his brother Reeses (who I later renamed Appa), a male English Spot. They were born into foster care to their mother Dakota who was a stray rescued by the House Rabbit Network. JuJu is very headstrong and dominating while Appa was less aggressive yet not submissive enough to be bullied by JuJu. While they were in foster care, Appa was bonded with JuJu because Appa got beat up by every other rabbit he was paired with.
I adopted both JuJu and Appa and brought them to their new home with a newly built NIC condo and free roam of the house. Shortly thereafter, JuJu and Appa started fighting over dominance of their new home and eventually got so out of hand that they had to be separated. Several weeks after their first fight, I decided to bond Appa with my friend Tiffany’s bun, jlo, instead of trying to rebond two aggressive male buns together.
JuJu has been a single bunny with free roam of the house since October. Appa and jlo has bonded successfully and happily living in New York City. I am now planning on adopting another bunny (probably female) to bond with JuJu shortly after my move to a new residence. My thought is that moving is a perfect time to bond JuJu because he would not have marked his territory in the new house and both bunnies can start anew in a strange home.
